Music City Half-Marathon Results

clock May 7, 2008 06:07 by author daniel

Its finally over.  13.1 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes.  Not too bad for a first timer but I can't compete w/ the the full-time runners.  The winner of the full marathon ran 26.1 miles in 2 hours and 15 minutes.  That's running twice as fast as I was!  It was a great experience and I will continue to run as it makes me feel good when I exercise.  30k plus people attended and there were bands and local people all about to cheer us on.  The pics below are courtesey of the event photographer.

long awaited post...

clock April 2, 2008 19:34 by author daniel

Its been a while since we posted.  I promise to be more diligent in the future. Cool

Michele is doing fine and coming up on 18 weeks into the pregnancy.  We find out on April 10th if we are having a boy or girl.  Either is fine with us; just hoping for a healthy baby.

Marathon training is still going strong and I ran 11 miles last Sunday!  3 miles used to be a challenge now its just a warm up.  I have another long run (14 miles) before the big day.  Time is flying by and the 26th will be soon.

Thanks for checking in on us.  We will post pictures of Michele and Baby Mac soon.

michele's birthday

clock February 3, 2008 20:36 by author daniel

Hello all!  We have a birthday girl this week (2/9) and she turns a BIG 29.   Happy birthday Michele!

As far as my training for the marathon, I ran 6 miles today.  The longer runs are getting easiser each week as I continue to train.  Next week, training suggests to run a "magic mile."  You'll have to come back to see what how I fare.

music city marathon

clock January 15, 2008 20:50 by author daniel

Back in the summer, I decided to run in the Dough Boy Challenge.  The company that employees me, PREMIER System Integrators, is one of the sponsors.  I do most of my work in the Pillsbury plant in Murfreesboro, TN.  I decided what the heck...I finished about mid pack with a time of 28 minutes and 36 seconds.  I was satisfied even though I did not train much before hand.

This year, work offered to reimberse the entry fee if anyone signed up for the 21k (13mi) Music City Half Marathon.  I signed up, hoping it would encourage me to exercise more than I have been lately (which hasn't been much).  I ended my 2nd week of training last Sunday with a 4mi run.  I hope it gets easier.  I'm following the following schedule for my training:  Schedule  So, check back during the following weeks to make sure I'm still moving forward!
